The Depths
"A habitable planet considered for the Unoiks project but rejected because of a lack of landmass and distance from Earth."
The Depths is the second planet to be implemented into the game as a result of the highest Kickstarter backer tier. There is only one island with a very large and deep ocean surrounding it. It is the only planet where you can find Moissanite. It is also the original homeworld of the Teachers, who once traveled the galaxy long ago as they shared their knowledge of magic.
The planet’s orbit will be empty and peaceful when you first arrive in a spaceship, but from the first time you reenter orbit an enemy Dragon Fighter will respawn there.
The island consists of a large hill in the center with two small flat areas on either side. The two sides are different, as are some of the ores and enemies present in each half of the ocean. Blue Crabs, Brutefish, Jellypods, Moissanite, and Crystal Trees can be found on both sides of the ocean.
On the island’s eastern shore is one of the Monoliths, the only one of the planet’s five that is located on land. The sandbanks beyond contain magical gems such as Focus Gems, Blood Gems, Spirit Gems, and Alter Gems. In this half of the ocean are Snaptopus and Scale Fish, in addition to the ubiquitous Brutefish and Jellypods. At the farthest extent of this half of The Depths, before you cross the divide to the other side and approach the trench, there is another Monolith on the seafloor.
The western coast has more surface area; the Explorer, a piece of wreckage from her ship, and a few berry bushes are present here. Small caverns in the sand near shore contain Crystal Trees, Hi-Tech Parts, and Power Core Parts. Additionally, there are mysterious structures like mini-monoliths with writing. You may find them out of order, but they tell the story of the strangely absent Teachers... Offshore is the Sub Pen; further out to sea are respawning Titanium pieces, plus debris with Hi-Tech Parts. The sandy seafloor in the west contains gold, uranium, sulfur, quartz, and raw oil; if mined with a mine 5 drill, they can provide ingredients for torpedoes, Mega Torpedoes, or Sonar. The trench, where the creatures that drop Bone Shards live, is located in this half of the ocean.
The top of the hill is taken up by a structure that has staircases and spires, with the spires resembling both the Monoliths and the background crystalline rock formations. The structure cannot be dismantled to make room for anything else.
The trench, located in the middle of the ocean below a floating island with a Monolith, is 190 tiles deep. The walls are made of unmineable Blackstone, but there is sand with a lava layer at the bottom containing some Exotic Matter; Mega Torpedoes can destroy the sand to get at the ores inside, but the Submersible may not be able to move into small gaps to grab them. The entrance to a water maze is located on the right-hand wall of the trench. At the end of the maze is the last Monolith, and an inscribed stela with the final warning of those who lived on this planet. It provides the ominous conclusion if you found and read the rest of the tablets.
The unique and distinctive pale purple soil of this planet can be seen from space. A cave randomly located in the stone below the dirt serves as the functional equivalent of the Starting Island’s Golem Cave, with endless Moissanite and other minerals; see the Dungeons page.

NPCs
The Explorer
The Explorer is the first NPC you meet on this planet. She gives you the 2 quests related to this planet. She can be used as a scientist on the Mobile Research Lab.
The Dishonered One's Sister
She is the second 'real' NPC you meet. She gives you the Draconian Armor and then leaves.
You can later make a new set of draconian armor at the Talon Copse after she gives it to you.
Structures
Sub Pen
There is a sub pen to the left of the island. The Explorer makes a submersible here after you complete their first quest, which gives you the ability to make them at any sub pen.
Monoliths
There are 5 monoliths scattered around the depths. There is one on the right side of the island, with the rest being somewhere in the ocean. There is also a singular monolith on the top of the Divider Island's mountain on Unoiks 428c, which acts exactly like the other monoliths but is not a part of any quests. The Explorer tells you to activate the 5 monoliths on The Depths as the 2nd quest. They can be activated by a bone shard, acquired from killing deep sea creatures from The Depths (Lampfish and Sea Serpents). Once activated, you can teleport between any other activated monoliths at no cost. They may also be uprooted and moved to any other planet, but cost 1 bone shard to plant.
