Unoiks 428c
An Earth-like and habitable planet, colony location #21. Suspected of being Enemy Homeworld. |
The second planet in Unoiks 428, Unoiks 428c, is the starting planet and the location of a crashed colony ship. Its survivors have settled on the planet's islands. It has an orbital space of size 576x64.
The planet has two moons, one large and one small, which are visible from the ground or in orbit but cannot be visited.

Map
The starting planet in Aground is a loop in the following order
Starting Island - Eastern Island - Cultivator Island - Divider Island - Ice Island - Minotaur Island - Undeveloped Island - The Heights - Sunset Haven - Starting Island
The Whirlpool
The Whirlpool is a shortcut located between Sunset Haven and Starting Island which links to a whirlpool between Divider Island and Ice Island (note: In the Demo, the player can only reach Ice Island, and attempting to go west will lead to a loop which never ends), and is traversed by allowing your boat to sink into it, or if you have a jetpack (or other flying equipment) hovering over it and pressing Z.
Biomes:
The islands of the planet cover several different biomes. Each of these has its own soil and rock types, fauna, flora, and occasionally Spirits. For visual references of the soil and rock types, the Mining page on this wiki can be consulted.
These names are unofficial and simply help describe the biomes
Purple Tree Biome:
Theme music: Cigam Oodoov Lleps, Grimoire Architect, The Passage Between, Nightly (at night on Eastern Island)
Found on Eastern Island, Cultivator Island, and West Divider Island in one continuous band. Purple Trees and Ice Bushes form the vegetation cover atop a layer of red Magic Dirt (containing Iron Ore, Focus Gems, quartz, and coal) overlying two layers of Magic Stone. Magic Stone 1 is the next layer after the dirt, pink in color, and contains Focus Gems, Alter Gems, Blood Gems, and rarely Spirit Gems. Lava blocks form the lowest part of this layer. In the special case of Cultivator Island, the Magic Stone 1 begins immediately at the surface, although the ground is still fertile. Magic Stone 2 is blue in color and contains even more mineral types than the previous layers, such as Titanium (Cultivator Island), Spirit Gems, and Diamonds.
The biome has distinct background clouds in every location; dark fog obscuring the distant mountains, with yellow wisps of vapor in front of and above it. This weather pattern is found nowhere else. Other biomes lack this consistency, where the clouds and vegetation correlate exactly with one another.
Enemies here vary somewhat across the two and a half islands of this biome. Where Magic Dirt is present, Fire Boars roam the forest at all hours while Leeches awaken each night in the soil below. Crawlers are present at all three locations, but on Divider Island and Eastern Island they are nocturnal. Amethyst Wyrms and Amethyst Golems inhabit Magic Stone 1 in all areas.
The lower half of Dragon Island, the floating chunk of land above Cultivator Island, is composed of Magic Stone 1 and has the same enemy types as the stone below. The upper half is the Snow Forest Biome.
Plant Spirits and Water Spirits are found in association with this biome. Plant Spirits roam whenever crawlers are present on Eastern Island and Cultivator Island, while the Water Spirits have a looser connection; the Eastern Island water spirit roams the forest in the daytime, while the Cultivator Island water spirit inhabits the seafloor where the Fish Village stands. Eastern Island also has one of the planet's only two Fire Spirits, unlike the other Purple Tree Biome locations. West Divider Island has no Spirits, possibly due to its small area.
Two caves in the Wyrm Tunnels, which are ever-changing sources of endless ore, match the composition of the purple tree biome's Magic Dirt and Magic Stone 1.
The fourth level of Death’s Door is based on this biome.
Deciduous Forest Biome:
Theme Music: No Boundaries, Primitive Technology - Underground (below the surface), Nightly (at night on the surface)
This biome is characterized by the broadleaf trees, simply called Trees (their seeds are called Tree Seeds), which form forests on the Starting Island's lowlands and the entire surface of the Undeveloped Island. Bushes and Red Bushes grow between the trees, which are naturally spaced wider than the minimum area which two trees could inhabit. Boars and Rats form large populations in the forest by day, while Panthers and Spiders become active at night. Each of the two islands has an Earth Spirit which patrols the forest at all hours; Earth Spirits are found nowhere else in the living world. Below ground, Wyrms tunnel through the brown dirt, which contains coal, iron, quartz, and rarely gold. Further down, relatively soft gray stone holds iron (above and below the lava layer), gold, and diamonds; gray Golems hibernate in the stone until unearthed.
In addition to these, the starting island has fire-element enemies underground. There are several special caves, one of which has a Fire Spirit. In the living world, Fire Spirits are only found in narrow passages between two layers of lava where they do occur. That cave, along with another, is inhabited by Fire Boars. Cockatrices are found beneath the mountain and in the same cave as the Fire Spirit. The Undeveloped Island has no other spirits or animal species aside from the ones endemic to the deciduous forest biome.
The always-changing Gold Golem Cave beneath the starting island is composed of dirt and rock typical of the Deciduous Forest Biome, although there is no iron or gold in the dirt at the top of this cave.
The two islands of this biome have identical or nearly identical theme music; this music is used nowhere else and no other biome has this kind of musical consistency.
The second layer of Death’s Door is based on this biome.
Snow Forest Biome:
Theme music: No Boundaries, Nightly, Cigam Oodoov Lleps, Grimoire Architect, The Passage Between
This biome is somewhat like an alpine forest on Earth, but there is no treeline; the vegetation here is able to grow at the very highest elevations on the planet and wherever there is permanent snow. The Heights summit, the Ice Island, the highest parts of Eastern Island, the Starting Island’s mountain, and Dragon Island above Cultivator Island are the places where this biome can exist. Snow-covered Bushes and Red Bushes form the understory of the forest, while a special type of non-plantable Conifer occupies the tree niche. Snowy Conifers drop Ice Berries instead of Apples, and if build over with a structure they cannot be replaced. Snowy Conifers will only be present if an area of snow-covered ground is large enough; they are absent from two of the three snow areas on Eastern Island. Conifer Seeds dropped from Snowy Conifers can only be planted on fertile soil, and they will grow into temperate conifers which produce Apples.
Most vegetation cannot be planted here because the ground is a shallow layer of snow on top of a gray stone base (mine hardness 2) that is the same type as Deciduous Forest rock. Different locations will have different minerals within the stone. On the starting island, this stone is continuous with the base layer of the rest of the island and contains the same ores. The Heights summit and the Ice Island contain sulfur, coal, and iron, along with some open areas of slippery ice. Two of the snowy areas of Eastern Island each contain one Spirit Gem, while the third has no ores. Dragon Island is composed half of gray stone and half of Magic Stone 1, forming a transition with the Purple Tree Biome. Above the boundary there is gray stone containing gold, iron, and coal. The lower half of Dragon Island has non-respawning Amethyst Wyrms and Amethyst Golems.
Yetis are the only surface enemies of this biome, active during both day and night. They are absent from the Time Manipulator’s floating island and the Dragonship Factory floating island for as yet unknown reasons. Both of those floating islands have a large structure in the middle flanked by Snowy Conifers. Where there are icy hollows in the ground, non-respawning Icers are present, ready to home in on and attack any player that gets too close. The Ice Island has Gold Golems and Cockatrices further down, with the birds inhabiting an open passageway between two layers of lava.
The Ice Island and Time Manipulator Island are each inhabited by an Ice Spirit. Ice Spirits are not found in any other areas on the planet where this biome exists, keeping with the pattern of two individuals of each spirit type in the living world.
The fifth level of Death’s Door is based on this biome.
Temperate Conifer Biome:
Theme music: Industrial Tech, The Passage Between, Colonial Function, Primitive Technology - Underground (below forest of Sunset Haven), Nightly (Minotaur Island, at night on eastern Sunset Haven)
The largest single area where this biome exists is actually not on Unoiks 428c; an entire island of temperate conifer forest exists on one island of the CaptAIn’s Colony planet (known on the wiki as Terraformer Island). On Unoiks 428c, temperate conifers grow in moist coastal areas, strongly correlated with steep mountains inland; Sunset Haven’s eastern half, East Divider Island, and the small coastal areas of The Heights are where temperate conifers grow on the planet, while Minotaur Island is also included in this category because of its dirt and minerals. Terraformer Island has frequent rain, although this may be a result of terraforming to artificially create suitable conditions for this biome. Bushes and Red Bushes grow among the trees, like in the Deciduous Forest biome; however, the soil is different in mineral composition and often color. The soil is gray in most locations, and contains coal in large amounts along with small quantities of gold and quartz (at least on Unoiks 428c); on Sunset Haven and East Divider Island the dirt contains sulfur, while The Heights has iron ore instead. The type of rock below varies; Sunset Haven and East Divider Island have a special type of gray-colored lava-bearing stone (mine hardness 4, known on this wiki as "Western Stone"), containing iron, sulfur, and diamonds. The Heights has obsidian instead, containing quartz and diamonds. Minotaur Island has a floor of bedrock suspended far above the ocean floor, and no ores within the bedrock.
Temperate conifer forests have a strong correlation with human presence and advanced science. Sunset Haven’s settlement was established in the island’s forest; the Alchemist and his three colleagues are likely the humans who built an Advanced Lab and Warehouse on East Divider Island; The Heights is the location of the Fighter Escort’s wreckage; and Terraformer Island is where the existing Terraformer is located. Terraformers even create the Western Dirt on which temperate conifers grow when activated to make ground fertile.
No enemies naturally inhabit this biome across all locations, above or below ground. Not even spirits are found in temperate conifer forests. However, Sunset Haven has the Bandits if you accept the quest to defeat them, and if tunnels are made through the mountain to the desert Mecha Wyrms can wander into the dirt layer below the town. The minotaur of Minotaur Island lives in close proximity to one entrance of the Minotaur Maze, suggesting that it lives on the island for reasons other than habitat preference. Terraformer Island on the CaptAIn's Colony planet is a special case, where it is implied the vegetation was imported to what had once been a desert landscape until the terraformer transformed the sand into soil. Therefore, the Colony Planet's desert-adapted endemic creatures are still present, such as Camoflora during the day and Dubex at night. Dubex are only found on Terraformer Island, for reasons unknown.
The soil and ores of the upper half of Minotaur Island are like Sunset Haven’s conifer biome, but without any of the vegetation that defines a temperate conifer forest. Vegetation can be planted there if the player wishes.
Desert Biome:
Theme music: Industrial Tech (demo), Primitive Technology - Underground (demo), Desert Biome, Remains (Earth Desert), Maars Metaalchemist (Mars)
This biome is only found on half an island on Unoiks 428c; Sunset Haven's mountain blocks rain coming from the east, keeping the western side dry and sandblasted. Sand constantly blows through the air and no vegetation is able to grow. The desert sand is as soft as other types of dirt, but the basalt farther down requires a tool with mine hardness 4 to drill through. Most of the enemies here were originally created through cybernetic experiments by The Mirrows; Cyborgs, Diode Wolves, and Mecha Wyrms are all surgically enhanced versions of something else. Cyborgs and Diode Wolves roam the desert surface in packs, attacking any player they see. If a passage is dug through the mountain, some of them can cross through to the eastern side.
With the Mecha Wyrms also confirmed to be an invention of the Mirrows', the only enemy that might not be are the strange scorpion-like enemies called Stingers that sleep within the desert dirt or roam through the Colony Ship's lower right room (before Bombardment is triggered). Their origins may be on Earth, as they are also present there in proximity to a crashed colony ship, but at the moment this is unknown. These fast, aggressive enemies have a ranged attack like Mecha Wyrms or Magic Wands, but also a sharp tail that can strike if a player is close. They are also found in the Earth Desert, along with the same mineral ores and the basalt underlayer. The desert dirt contains raw oil, some iron ore. and some sulfur. The basalt underneath contains more oil in addition to gold, diamonds, and uranium. The basalt of the Earth Desert and the Sunset Haven desert contains no lava. Beneath the Earth City, ore-rich desert basalt overlies a layer of obsidian and lava.
The Mars desert has no enemies, unless Spirit Fish access tunnels from the ocean below ground (spirits cannot pass through solid blocks). Mars basalt contains rare and unusual ores like Chromium and Evolution Shards.
The third level of Death’s Door is based on this biome.
Underwater:
Theme Music: Primitive Technology - Underground (demo), Ancient Aquatic Energy, Subaqueous Metropolis (Fish Village), Abyssal Depths (The Depths and Unoiks 428d)
Most of the seas between the islands of Unoiks 428c have few aquatic creatures, usually only jellyfish or sometimes flappers. However, in a few locations the fauna are much more diverse: the waters around Cultivator Island, offshore and beneath The Heights, and the cave and sea of Divider Island. The sea sand of Unoiks 428c contains no ores except for raw oil. However, around the three islands mentioned previously the sandbanks are occupied by clams and sometimes Blue Crabs. Above the ocean floor sharks, Snaptopus, and Scale Fish (east of Cultivator Island) swim back and forth. Skyfish even live underwater beneath Divider Island (in the Kraken Cave) and around Cultivator Island. In all seas of the planet, the ocean floor has passive organisms: purple aquatic plants, giant sponges with fish, and giant sponges that produce air bubbles. Bubbling sponges will restore your oxygen at a rate of +4 per second. Around the Fish Village grow unusual bioluminescent sessile organisms whose biological kingdom is never clarified; the strange stalks grow nowhere else on this planet, but are present deep in other worlds' oceans. In the far background of the fish village, a horizontal band of stationary fish adds to the scenery. A school of orange fish (in the shape of a larher fish) swims back and forth in the near background. Krakens, huge cephalopod-like animals, are a rare but very strong enemy that live in a few underwater locations.
All aquatic enemies are Water-element and vulnerable to Ice or Plant magic. The least powerful water creatures drop no spoils when defeated; however, the stronger and more dangerous enemies drop valuable magical ingredients if either killed or placed in a Coral Pen (after being caught with a Water Trap). While Sharks, Flappers, Skyfish, and Krakens are found nowhere else in the universe, the same is not true for the other species. Clams and jellyfish are also found in the Mars ocean; Blue Crabs, Scale Fish, and Snaptopus are also found in the seas of The Depths and the Hidden World. Other planets' underwater sandbanks contain far more mineral types than Unoiks 428c, but this world's diversity of aquatic life is unmatched in the game.
